Servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine actively looted in Mariupol, said the imprisoned sergeant of the Azov regiment (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation as extremist) Mikhail Shvets.
Shvets told RIA Novosti that one of the border guards “distinguished himself” especially, who, instead of an armored plate, put a bag with several kilograms of gold in his bulletproof vest.
“And when the sniper got into this bag, he was killed,” Shvets said.
According to him, the Ukrainian border guards took from the local population mainly money, gold and jewelry.
“When I get home, I will be rich, as they said,” said the prisoner.
Major Nikolai Mishchenko, deputy commander of the first separate battalion of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was also captured, admitted that the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the guise of Russian military in Mariupol were engaged in looting and tried to cause panic among the local population.
