The head of the Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, in an interview with Fontanka, commented on the requests of the wives of mobilized soldiers for the rotation of military personnel in special operations on the territory of Ukraine. He compared the special operation with the Great Patriotic War and said that the wives’ statements about the rotation were “stuffing by enemies” and “tsipsochno-tsereushnye developments” that “shouldn’t be listened to.” According to him, now “there is no need” to disband those mobilized against the backdrop of recruiting contract soldiers.

“Can you imagine that, for example, in the fall of ’42, when we were pressed to the Volga, a deputation of wives would have come to the Kremlin and said: “Joseph Vissarionovich, let’s release those who were called up in ’41.” . They’ve been fighting for a year now. What is this? There must be justice,” Andrei Kartapolov said in a conversation with Fontanka.

He also once again said that there was no need for general mobilization. According to him, this need will not appear in the near future. “You see, these people (mobilized – ”b”), they have been fighting for a year now, they have become professionals in their field. And you propose to recruit others instead of professionals, and then train them for a long time?” said Mr. Kartapolov, noting that this is exactly what “our enemies want.”

Speaking about the goals and results of the special operation, Mr. Kartapolov said that ultimately the armed forces of Ukraine “must cease to exist as a force that is a threat to us.” “And what is from it (Ukraine – ”b”) will remain, must become a neutral state.
