The unified status of large families at the federal level may be consolidated during the spring session of the State Duma. Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the Duma Committee for Family Protection, spoke about this on Tuesday, January 9.
The parliamentarian expressed the opinion that in resolving this issue “everything will be quite quickly,” while the format of the document is still unknown exactly – “it could be a government decree or a presidential decree.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it is necessary to quickly establish the status of a large family indicating benefits. He instructed officials to formulate measures to protect motherhood and childhood, as this will help revive the tradition of large families.
Governor of the Novgorod region Andrei Nikitin noted that Russia has historically always had many children. Since this tradition, according to the politician, needs to be revived, he proposed extending the status of large families for Novgorod families for the period of full-time education of the eldest child at a college or university until he reaches 23 years of age.
