In Buryatia, deputies of the People’s Khural decided to abandon direct elections of the mayor of Ulan-Ude. According to the legislative body of the republic, candidacies will now be submitted to the city council of deputies for consideration.
Thus, the provision has been changed according to which the mayor of the regional capital is elected in municipal elections.
Those wishing to become mayor will have to submit documents to the competition commission. Next, the approved candidacy is put to a vote in the Ulan-Ude City Council.
