Supervisor “Games of the Future” Igor Stolyarov said that $10 million was raised by the project partners to award the winners of the competition. Budgetary funds were not used for this.
“The entire prize fund is partnership investments; there is not a single ruble of budget money,” said Stolyarov. “We call them not sponsors, but partners” (quote from TASS).
On the Games website, in the partners section, it is listed 21 companies. Among them are PJSC Gazprom, JSC Russian Railways, and the bookmaker Liga Statov. The biggest prizes are promised in the disciplines “Gazprom physical football” and “Figittal basketball with Sber” – $1.25 million each.
“Games of the Future” take place in Kazan from February 21 to March 3. The opening ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Competitions are held in 21 disciplines. Each discipline supports the concept of phygital – the combination of classical sports, e-sports and technology. About 2 thousand athletes and e-sportsmen from more than 100 countries are participating.
