There are new signs of discord in the family of the Prince of Monaco: the account is gone

The German publication Bild claims that Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene are now just a “ceremonial couple”. The publication also reported that instead of living in the princely palace in Monaco, Charlene now lives in Switzerland. Against this background, gossip lovers were especially intrigued by the message that, in a mysterious way, a personal account in which the princess shared news about her work in the royal family, as well as photographs of twin children.
In March 2023 – after French magazine Royauté claimed that Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were in the process of divorcing and the news was circulated by British tabloids – a spokesman for the Royal Palace of Monaco told People magazine that “malicious rumors” about a possible the gap is “absolutely unfounded”. A second source, meanwhile, claimed that the French tabloid’s breakup report was “made up of old stories that weren’t true to begin with.”
According to the Daily Mail, the 45-year-old princess no longer has a valid social media account and a search on her old account, @hshprincesscharlene, has returned no results. Instead, you receive an error message that reads: “Sorry, this page is not available.”
The mother-of-two, who spent the summer on a yacht with her husband and their eight-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, previously used her social media page to document official visits and outings with her children, but records of such events appear to no longer be published. .
Despite the fact that the personal account of the princess has been deleted, the account of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation remains active, the Daily Mail notes.
Earlier, German and French media reported that the princess “lives in Switzerland” and sees her husband only for ceremonial reasons. However, she has not returned to the princely palace and is living abroad, fueling rumors about the state of the couple’s marriage.
A source close to the couple told French newspaper Voici that former South African Olympic swimming champion and crowned son Grace Kelly is just a “ceremonial couple”. According to the source, Charlene promised to return to Monaco on official occasions, and now she is allowed to see her children more often.
“Albert and Charlene are good partners now, taking turns taking care of the children,” the source added to the German newspaper Bild.
As the Daily Mail notes, although the princely court denied rumors about the collapse of the marriage of Albert and Charlene, the South African-born princess was spotted in Milan this year without a wedding ring.
Between January 2021 and March 2022, Charlene was not in Monaco at all, citing an ear infection that prevented her from flying from South Africa back to the principality.
Upon his return to Monaco, Albert stated that his wife was “depressed” and “ill”. In comments to People magazine, the prince said the family reunion in Monaco went “pretty well” in the first few hours, but then it became “quite obvious” that Charlene was “unwell”.
The prince said that the former Olympian realized that she needed help: “She was depressed and could not cope either with official duties, or with life in general, or even with family life.”
According to Albert, the process of making a final decision about treatment included meeting family members: “I sat her down with her brothers and sister-in-law. She had already made her decision and we just wanted her to confirm it with us. She wanted it. “She already knew that the best thing to do was to go on holiday and get real medical treatment. And not in Monaco. For privacy reasons, it had to be somewhere outside of Monaco.”
Albert explained: “This has nothing to do with our relationship. I want to make it very clear. It is not a problem in our relationship, not in the relationship between husband and wife. It has a completely different nature.”
He went on to tell the magazine that his wife’s condition was the result of “several private factors”: “She didn’t sleep well for several days and didn’t eat well at all. She lost a lot of weight, which left her vulnerable to other potential illnesses. Cold or flu or, God help us, covid.”
According to him, it “is not related to cancer or the problem of personal relationships.”
Claims that she would stay in Switzerland were confirmed by a source who knows the couple well, who said: “The south of France is too close, but there are excellent private medical facilities in Switzerland and Charlene will be well cared for.”
The couple has been at the center of divorce rumors for years but has always denied that there are problems in their marriage. In March, the press service of the prince’s palace stated that they “officially refute the malicious rumors spread by the magazine.”
However, sources close to the couple said that Charlene was upset by Nicole Coast, the mother of Albert’s first illegitimate son. In July, Charlene almost found herself face-to-face with Nicole at the 74th annual Red Cross ball.
Former Air France flight attendant Nicole, 51, who has a 19-year-old son, Alexandre Grimaldi-Cost, was among the guests at the benefit, which was founded by Albert’s grandfather, Prince Louis II of Monaco, in 1948.
Nicole shared a photo online of herself inside the Salle des Etoiles sports club. ‘Red is my favorite color,’ she wrote of her choice of dress.
Coast has not forgiven Princess Charlene for allegedly placing Alexander in the palace’s staff wing ahead of her £53 million wedding in 2011. Nicole previously admitted she didn’t feel much sympathy for Charlene after she was hospitalized due to “exhaustion” in 2021.
“I don’t care what happens to her,” she said. According to the Daily Mail, Nicole, who had a six-year secret relationship with Albert, even stated: “People in Monaco love me more than Charlene. They really love and respect me.”
The timeline for the princely couple’s relationship hasn’t been smooth, a British tabloid notes: Rumors of the fragile state of their marriage began to swirl after Charlene was absent from Monaco for much of 2021 while receiving treatment in her native South Africa. The mother-of-two was hospitalized in a Swiss clinic for malnutrition upon her return, but has now returned to royal duties and public appearances.
Charlene and Albert, who share eight-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, wed in July 2011 after the prince proposed with a hand-cut pear-shaped diamond set with smaller diamonds designed by Paris-based Italian jeweler Repossi. Later, during the wedding ceremony, the couple exchanged 18k white gold platinum rings from Cartier and Charlene laughed as she placed the ring on her husband’s finger. However, soon rumors began to appear about the gap between the prince and princess.
In 2000, Albert first met swimmer Charlene Wittstock in Monaco, where she represented South Africa and went on to win gold. But no one expected the romance to blossom. Their lives were very different. Sports-obsessed Charlene is 20 years younger than the Monegasque ruler. Her father Michael was a photocopier salesman and her mother Lynette was a diving athlete.
But the couple allowed their relationship to slowly develop out of the public eye, and they didn’t make any public appearances until February 2006. The occasion was the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. French journalist Philippe Delorme said at the time: “She was on hand with him throughout the ceremony, and they did not try to hide their affection for each other, exchanging kisses and other gentle gestures.”
Charlene had to convert to Catholicism – she was raised a Protestant – and learn both French and Monegasque.
In her first interview since the announcement of the royal wedding, Charlene opened up about the challenges she faced in transitioning from being an athlete to being a future royal bride. She admitted that she felt “jealousy” towards some members of Monaco’s social elite. “The people I interacted with in Monaco didn’t fit my South African mentality or sense of humour,” she told Tatler.
During their wedding, Charlene was dubbed a “runaway bride” by the French media after she allegedly tried to run away before the ceremony, but these reports have always been debunked. A Parisian magazine claimed that Charlene was pulled over at Nice airport after allegedly learning a “sad” revelation about her future husband’s private life. A senior Monaco detective claimed at the time: “Charlene’s passport was confiscated so that the prince’s entourage could convince her to stay.”
The rumor mill in France is in full swing. It was assumed that Charlene heard talk of another illegitimate child, conceived when she met Albert in 2005, and which will bring the number of illegitimate children of the Monegasque monarch to three.
In the early days of the marriage, the royal was often spotted showing off her rings, but since 2017, Charlene has rarely been seen wearing rings in photos – even at formal events. Photographs taken of her at the 2012 Monaco National Day Gala show her wearing the ring, while she was again seen cheering the crowd from the balcony of the palace during the Monaco National Day celebrations in 2017 year.
But during the same celebration in 2019, she was without a ring when she left the palace arm in arm with Albert to greet the crowd. She made several public appearances throughout 2019 and 2020 without her engagement ring.
In May 2005, shortly before his accession to the throne as Prince of Monaco, Albert confirmed that he was the biological father of Alexander, whose mother was Nicole Coste, a former Air France flight attendant from Togo. A May 2006 DNA test also confirmed that Albert fathered Jazmine Grace through an affair with Tamara Rotolo, an American real estate agent he met while she was on holiday in the south of France in 1991.
The last few years have been particularly difficult for the couple as rumors of their marriage have been bombarded.
In December 2020, Albert received a lawsuit to recover cash from an alleged illegitimate child, and soon after, Charlene shaved half her head in a punk rock style.
There were claims that Albert fathered an illegitimate child to an unnamed Brazilian woman at a time when he was already in a relationship with Charlene.
The woman said she met the prince at a nightclub in Rio de Janeiro in 2004 and that their daughter, who is now a Brazilian teenage schoolgirl, sent a handwritten note to Albert.
In turn, Albert’s legal team called the allegations a “hoax” and they never went to court, prompting speculation that the case was settled privately.
