Theodosian ran 70 km in honor of his 70th birthday

Such an unusual gift to himself for his 70th birthday was presented by the Feodosia ultramarathon runner Mikhail Yuryevich Bogdanov, choosing the alleys of Komsomolsky Park for the race. According to his calculations, he ran 63 circles, each of which is 1 kilometer 100 meters. A message about the race was posted on the Internet before the event, so city leaders, local deputies and numerous friends came to congratulate the hero of the day at the appointed hour.

His sports career began with cross-country skiing, which was popular in the Ural region, where Mikhail spent his childhood. When he moved to live in Feodosia, instead of a winter look, he had to switch to athletics. At first, Mikhail ran on his own, then found like-minded people who signed up for the Volna jogging club he created. Working as a physical education teacher at secondary school No. 17, on Sundays he found time to study with everyone. Day after day, month after month, he measured the kilometers of various tracks. Gradually he gained experience and passed it on to his pupils. Soon Bogdanov was invited to prestigious competitions. One of his best results was the second place in the Soviet Union Cup in marathon running, where he competed as part of the Crimean national team. Several times I tested myself as a participant in the World Championships, and once became the winner of the tournament

Despite his age, Mikhail Yurievich is not going to stop his marathon races. Goes to the start even in inclement weather. “This is my lifestyle. Doctors say that if you stop, stop running, the body may suffer from this. There is another reason: I simply cannot live without my hobby. Someone likes to watch movies, someone likes books, and I am attracted to stadiums and treadmills. Even now I have a monthly running plan of 600 kilometers. Last year I covered more than 7,000 km,” the marathon runner shared with the MK in Crimea newspaper.
