In the Russian capital and region, the “yellow” level of weather danger announced due to ice has been extended until Friday, February 2.
The Hydrometeorological Center of Russia reports this.
The warning period is until 21.00 next Friday.
From 21.00 on January 31, Wednesday, until 21.00 on February 1, Thursday, a warning about icy conditions was announced in the Moscow region.
The “yellow” level of danger in winter means that the likelihood of dangerous situations on roads and sidewalks increases significantly. The main cause of ice is the simultaneous fall of snow and rain during regular temperature transitions “through zero”. Due to the large number of cars on the roads, precipitation is mixed, which also leads to the formation of icy conditions.
Drivers are advised to reduce speed and increase distance, and be careful on turns, descents and ascents. Pedestrians should wear shoes with good tread to reduce the risk of falling.
