The Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) conducted a scheduled inspection at IK-3 and IK-18 in the village of Kharp. Chairman of the Public Monitoring Committee Danila Gontar said that no violations were found. On February 16, opposition leader Alexei Navalny died in IK-3.

The commission checked the conditions of medical care and the availability of a basic set of medications. According to the chairman of the PMC, the emergency first aid kit complies with the established rules. In addition, at the end of 2023, dental equipment, a fluorography apparatus were installed in IK-3, and a chemical laboratory was opened.

As Danila Gontar said, the POC visited not only the detachments, but also the punishment cell (punishment cell) and other premises, including the production of reindeer skins and clothing in the colonies and a store. According to him, the colonies have been given recommendations regarding logistics. The cause of Alexei Navalny’s death was not discussed, he clarified.

“We checked all areas, including IK-3 and another 18th colony. I want to say right away: we did not go in connection with these events (the death of Navalny – Kommersant), it was a planned visit. We checked compliance with rights and held conversations. There were no statements or complaints… No violations were identified,” Danila Gontar told the agency TASS.

The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, in a report on the death of Alexei Navalny in IK-3, indicated that after the walk he felt unwell and lost consciousness. Today, March 1, Alexei Navalny buried at the Borisov cemetery in Moscow.
