Today, March 1, the World Youth Festival 2024 (WYF) began on the federal territory of Sirius in the Krasnodar Territory. It takes place from March 1 to 7 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. The organizer was Rosmolodezh.
The opening ceremony of the festival is scheduled for March 2, but the first events are already taking place today. 20 thousand people take part in the festival, half of them represent 190 foreign countries. Participants in the festival were young people aged 14 to 35 years old with merit in the fields of education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering and charity, sports, business, and media. As Vladimir Putin noted earlier, 300 thousand people sent applications to participate in the festival.
“I am confident that the festival will be a significant step towards the formation of a fair, multipolar world, it will be able to consolidate young people in finding the solutions that the modern world order needs, in creating a strong foundation of cooperation on which relations between countries will be built,” he said during preparation to VFM. The organizers believe that they managed to gather representatives of young people who are thinking about the future of their countries. They expect that in 10–15 years, many of the festival participants will begin to make political and economic decisions in their countries, and Sirius will become a platform on which they will get to know each other in advance.
5 thousand volunteers, who have also passed a strict selection process, will help the participants and guests of the festival. According to the head of Rosmolodezh Ksenia Razuvaeva, in total there will be about 90 thousand people at the WFM site. In addition to participants and volunteers, these are experts, guests, partners, journalists, representatives of the media community and various service providers.
