The winners of the “Coach of the Year” competition 2023 were announced in Voronezh


A review competition of sports coaches and mentors was held in Voronezh. On behalf of the mayor of the city, Vadim Kstenin, the nominees were greeted by the acting vice-mayor for social policy, Lyubov Kulakova. The traditional sporting event was announced by the press service of the Voronezh administration on Friday, December 8.

The “Coach of the Year” competition has been held in Voronezh for 10 years. It includes 51 sports and 6 main nominations. The award ceremony for the winners is traditionally held at the City Palace of Culture. This year, about 500 teachers from sports schools in the capital of the Black Earth Region gathered here.

“And only thanks to such efforts we achieve victories, and we get the result that our city can be proud of today in the sports arena,” said Alexander Bakhtin, head of the department of physical culture and sports.

School teachers won in the main category “Cyclic sports included in the Olympic Games program”:

  • No. 5 – Alexander Isaev;
  • No. 8 – Igor Kartashov;
  • No. 21 – Gennady Kozlovtsev.

Voronezh coaches were awarded in the category “Non-cyclic sports included in the Olympic Games program”:

  • Evgeniy Chernikov from school No. 14;
  • Yulia Pugach from the school of artistic gymnastics named after Y. Shtukman;
  • Gennady Starodubtsev from the D. Sautin diving school.

Three coaches won in the category “Martial arts included in the Olympic Games program”:

  • Roman Khodin and Valery Khripushin from school No. 33;
  • Oleg Drozdov from school No. 10.

In the nomination “Game Sports Included in the Olympic Games Program” the following teachers were awarded:

  • Svetlana Ordina from school No. 16;
  • Fatima Apostolyuk from school No. 21;
  • Andrey Egorov from school No. 1.

In the category “Martial arts not included in the Olympic Games program” the winners were:

  • Dmitry Beshenets from school No. 22;
  • Arman Ziroyan from school No. 26;
  • Vladimir Koreshkov from school No. 22.

In the category “Other sports not included in the Olympic Games program” the following were recognized as the best coaches:

  • Yulia Lvova and Alexandra Volokitin from school No. 2;
  • Alexandra Malygina from school No. 18.

Oriental martial arts teacher Arman Ziroyan spoke about passing on experience to the younger generation. His children are already winning all-Russian sports competitions, charged with the energy of their father-coach.

At the award ceremony for the best coaches of Voronezh, sports veterans were also remembered. The winners and athletes were congratulated by the deputy of the Voronezh City Duma, a participant in the hostilities in the zone of the special military operation, Alexander Vorontsov. He is a master of sports in karate, champion of Russia. Trained young fighters to ensure their safety in the Northern Military District zone.

Sports organizer, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of Russia Galina Filimonova congratulated those present with verses:
