The wind tore the papal cap from Francis' head

Pope Francis has temporarily lost the pileolus or zucchetto, the headdress of a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. The cap was torn off by the wind as the pontiff rode through a crowd of worshipers in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican on Wednesday.

The footage was shown on the BBC. Francis grabbed his head, trying to hold on to the headdress, but it flew away. However, judging by the video, the hat was then handed to dad. It remains unclear whether someone caught the pileolus on the fly or whether the pontiff’s assistants carry spare zucchetto just in case this happens.
