The information that the military enlistment offices of St. Petersburg send summons to residents via SMS is not true, said TASS press service of the Western Military District (ZVO).

“There was no such command. This system has not yet been brought to a final decision,” the ZVO press service told the agency.

At the same time, the military registration and enlistment offices for the Kronstadt and Kurortny districts of St. Petersburg earlier today, June 9, confirmed “Kommersant”, which notify residents via SMS messages about the need to arrive at the military commissariat “to verify the data.” The military registration and enlistment offices explained that the distribution is carried out by order of the leadership of the commissariat.

Formerly head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov declaredthat the distribution of notices of subpoenas via SMS is being prepared for the convenience of citizens. At the same time, he stressed that SMS is not equated with the agenda.

June 5 became knownthat the Ministry of Defense is working on amendments that will allow Russians to be notified of a call for mobilization using SMS. This method will be used together with sending information through the “Gosuslugi” and the taxpayer’s personal account.
