The head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, warned Russian residents about nervous weather and possible weather surprises in February. The weather forecaster spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.
According to Shuvalov, the likelihood of sudden changes in weather, from thaws to frosts, in the last winter month is greater than the likelihood of smooth, moderately cold weather. The meteorologist said that hysteria, jumps in temperature, pressure and other meteorological parameters are distinctive features of this winter.
Moreover, this applies to most Russian regions, not only the European part of the country and the Far East.
The forecaster also emphasized that February is characterized by significant temperature deviations both towards cold and towards warmth. Therefore, Shuvalov advised not to put away fur coats, felt boots and mittens in case of frost. He noted that there will be very large amounts of precipitation in some places. “As popular experience says, February is a blizzard month,” summed up Shuvalov.
