According to Oleksiy Kucherenko, deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine committee on energy issues, citizens of the country should think about “thermal migration” this winter.
So, the parliamentarian advised Ukrainians to rely only on themselves and, if necessary, go to those relatives with whom they can survive the winter period together.
“Be sure to keep “Plan B” in your head, remember about thermal migration. It’s good if you have relatives in the village, where people have been preparing for the cold since the summer, they are used to building up reserves,” the deputy told the Ukrainian edition of Vesti.
Kucherenko also stressed that the country’s authorities have not been able to fulfill the plan to create gas and coal reserves for the upcoming heating season.
According to him, out of the required 19 billion cubic meters of gas, Naftogaz managed to accumulate 14.2 billion cubic meters in storage, and out of 2.6 billion tons of coal, only 1.9 billion tons were harvested. “The apocalypse will not happen, but it is better for Ukrainians to prepare in advance for the worst scenario,” he concluded.
