The US wants to create an international mission in Nagorno-Karabakh

The United States stands for the creation of an international mission that would guarantee the rights and security of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a briefing. Broadcast The event was held on the department’s YouTube channel.

“We believe that there should be an international mission that will provide confidence to the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh and the international community that the rights and safety of the residents will be ensured in accordance with the statements made by Azerbaijan,” he said.

Discussions about creating such a mission are already underway, Miller added. Washington, he said, is concerned about the situation in Karabakh and counts on maintaining the ceasefire in the region, meeting the primary needs of the Armenian population of the region, as well as concluding a long-term peace between Baka and Yerevan.

Earlier today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with USAID head Samantha Power, who gave him a letter from US President Joe Biden. It contains the American leader promised continue to strengthen security cooperation, and also reaffirmed Washington’s desire for stable peace in the region.
