Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy has changed his position regarding the allocation of $300 million for the training of Ukrainian military personnel, which is provided for by the US budget, TASS reports, citing the publication of The Hill newspaper.
It was previously reported that McCarthy was going to withdraw this money from the defense appropriations bill in fiscal year 2024. The new fiscal year starts in the United States on October 1.
The article says that McCarthy, who is also the leader of the US Republican Party, considered that the State Department funding proposal also included expenditure items on Ukraine.
Next week, the House of Representatives is expected to hold a single procedural vote on four appropriations bills for various government agencies, including the State Department and the Pentagon.
