The US Congress intends to approve the administration’s request for funding for Ukraine, Israel and southern border security by the end of this year. NBC TV channel reports this with reference to sources.
Previously, the predominantly Republican leadership of the House of Representatives supported its own bill that would provide funds for Israel by cutting the budgets of several federal departments. However, the White House and Democrats in the Senate considered this initiative inappropriate and rejected it.
Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stressed that the issue of additional support for Ukraine and Israel will be a priority before Christmas. Schumer said he hopes to reach an agreement between Democrats and Republicans despite the differences. Work on these will begin after Thanksgiving, that is. after November 23rd.
