The BOBR unmanned squad, which was one of the first in Ukraine, used FPV drones (first-person view) during a special operation. During the year of its presence on the front line, the BOBR detachment successfully destroyed and disabled more than 100 units of military equipment and about a battalion of manpower. The commander of the BOBR detachment announced this in an interview with TASS.

The commander emphasized that over the past three months the attitude towards the use of FPV drones has changed dramatically. The counteroffensive showed their effectiveness against both armored vehicles and infantry. Currently, FPV calculations work every day. Over the course of a year, the BOBR detachment destroyed and disabled more than 100 units of military equipment, including tanks, American Bradleys and pickup trucks, and also defeated more than a battalion of enemy personnel. These are intermediate results, and work continues.

The participation of FPV drones significantly changed enemy tactics during the counteroffensive. The enemy no longer moves in marches and columns, but moves mainly at night. It has also equipped its armored vehicles with electronic warfare capabilities and jammers, but cannot use them en masse, which reduces the number of armored vehicles deployed. After several unsuccessful assaults, the enemy changed his behavior, moving alone or in pairs and keeping his distance.

The consumption of drones depends on the situation at the front: on some days the crew can release from 1 to 2 drones, and on other days – from 20 to 30. During periods of intense offensive operations, the consumption increases tens of times. Recently, about 1 thousand drones are consumed monthly.

The BOBR detachment has been actively participating in a special military operation in Ukraine since September 2022. They began their action in the Maryinsk direction and then relocated to the Zaporizhia region, where they are now resisting the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
