The United States has cut off all contacts with Russia in the fight against terrorism, Washington is trying to “squeeze out” Moscow from international formats, declared Deputy Secretary of the Security Council (SB) of the Russian Federation Yuri Kokov in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to him, despite the complex nature of Russian-American relations, countering international terrorism remained one of the few areas in which expert consultations and practical interaction between special services continued.

“At present, the United States has interrupted all bilateral contacts and is trying to squeeze Russia out of the established international cooperation formats in this area,” Kokov said.

He also added that the possibilities for continuing a constructive dialogue and developing previously reached agreements with Western countries on anti-terror issues are currently minimal.

In August, Vladimir Tarabrin, director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats at the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted that the US and the EU, under a far-fetched pretext, froze the dialogue on anti-terror. According to the representative, Washington has suspended profile meetings within the framework of the high-level dialogue under the auspices of the foreign ministries of Russia and the United States, which were held in 2018-2019. He noted that these meetings were “useful for both sides.”
