Roman Putin launches an all-Russian action in honor of the anniversary of Vladimir Putin

Roman Putin, head of the All-Russian Putin Support Committee (VPP), is launching a congratulatory campaign in honor of the 70th birthday of the Russian president, which will be celebrated on October 7. The businessman, who is the cousin of the head of state, announced this at a press conference in St. Petersburg.
According to Roman Putin, his colleagues from the regional branches of the AUPC (45 in total) offered him to hold the rally. It is assumed that ordinary citizens and business representatives themselves will figure out how to congratulate the president, and the implemented initiatives will be sent to the committee. He, in turn, organizes a vote on his website to determine the best congratulation. The winners will receive gifts: which ones, the organizers have not yet come up with, but it is planned that they will be “purely symbolic”.
Mr. Putin also recalled that people used to congratulate the tsars “from the bottom of their hearts” – for example, the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty was celebrated on a special scale in 1913. The businessman added that he personally likes the idea of using billboards. At the same time, he assured that his initiative was not connected with state authorities and was “exclusively popular”, although someone may well turn to state bodies to issue commemorative coins or postage stamps.
The celebration is supposed not to end on October 7, but to stretch over the whole next year. In the future, Roman Putin did not rule out, such initiatives could become larger: for example, a ship can be named after the president or a city can be renamed.
