The United Russia congress will be held on December 17

The Presidium of the General Council of United Russia has determined the date of the annual party congress. It will be held in Moscow on December 17 at the Russia exhibition site at VDNKh, the United Russia press service reported.
As Vedomosti wrote on November 7, the congress will be held in one day so that delegates from all over the country can come on the weekend (December 17 – Sunday). A one-day event allows you to save on accommodating party members in Moscow, the United Russia member points out: “In the context of a military special operation, we are trying to ensure that the congress is organized without frills.”
Before the congress, United Russia will hold three panel discussions – in Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow, the party explained. “Representatives of the regions will take part in them. There we will discuss the current situation, talk about the results of work, first of all, on the people’s program. About the plans and position of the party on key issues in the life of the country. We will formulate proposals for the congress there,” the press service noted.
Earlier, Vedomosti wrote that the congress could “give impetus to those who support United Russia to join the campaign of the first person.” Russian presidential elections will take place in 2024.
In addition, as required by law, by December 17, all party branches will hold conferences and identify delegates who will represent the regions at the congress, the party noted. The Congress is the highest governing body of United Russia. This congress will be the first in two years. The party did not hold it in 2022. United Russia considered that the geopolitical situation was not conducive to holding such events.
The location of the event was not chosen by chance. “Today, the exhibition “Russia” is the place where what our country is proud of is brought together,” the press service said. The exhibition opened on November 4 and will last until April 12, 2024. Vladimir Putin signed the decree on its organization on March 29.
