The head of the Perm region joined United Russia – Kommersant

The Presidium of the regional political council of United Russia considered the application of the Governor of the Perm Territory Dmitry Makhonin to join the party. According to the press service of the regional department, the presidium unanimously approved decision of the head of the region.
The secretary of the regional branch, Vyacheslav Grigoriev, called this decision a strengthening of the regional branch of United Russia. According to Vyacheslav Grigoriev, the governor of the Kama region built a working, constructive relationship with representatives of United Russia “from the first days of his work as the highest official in the region.” Dmitry Makhonin thanked the party members for their trust, noting that United Russia is a key political force in the country and the region.
The former head of the control department of the fuel and energy complex of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, Dmitry Makhonin, has headed the Perm region since 2020, then he was appointed acting head of the region, after which he participated in the gubernatorial elections as a self-nominated candidate. In 2016, Mr. Makhonin ran for the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Yabloko party.
Let us note that Mr. Makhonin’s predecessor as head of the Kama region, Maxim Reshetnikov, is also a member of United Russia. The previous governors of the Perm Territory, Oleg Chirkunov and Viktor Basargin, did not join the party.
