The UN proposed to organize a safe zone around the ZNPP

The UN believes that it is necessary to agree on a safe perimeter around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), informs “RIA Novosti” with reference to the words of the Secretary General of the international organization António Guterres.
“The object should not be used as part of any military operation. Instead, an urgent agreement is needed at a technical level on a secure demilitarization perimeter to ensure the security of the area,” Guterres said, adding that the parties should stop any military activity around the ZNPP.

As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out, and two power lines that feed the power units were also cut off. The Russian Defense Ministry called Ukraine’s actions nuclear terrorism. The department noted that the accident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will cause a global man-made disaster. Prior to this, local authorities reported on strikes on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP on July 20 and 12.
On August 10, the Foreign Ministers of the G7 (G7) demanded from Russia to “immediately” return the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant under the control of Ukraine. They expressed concern about the current situation, which “increases the risk of a nuclear accident and endangers the population of Ukraine and the entire world community.”
On the same day Russia demanded hold a meeting of the UN Security Council on August 11 in connection with the attacks of the Ukrainian military on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. As a speaker, Russia asked the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to take part.
Previously at the Foreign Ministry declaredthat the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian military could lead to a catastrophe on a scale greater than the explosion at the plant in Chernobyl, and it could affect not only Russia and Ukraine.
