The UN Court found that it has jurisdiction to hear the claim of Ukraine against Russia over the SVO
The International Court of Justice has ruled to consider the merits of Ukraine’s 2022 lawsuit against the Russian Federation due to the start of the Russian SVO.
Chief Justice Joan Donoghue said the court ruled by 15 votes to one that it had the required jurisdiction “based on Article 9 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide.”
The chairwoman of the court also announced the rejection of six preliminary objections raised by Russia to the claim of the Ukrainian side.
