Ukrainian refugees will be allocated $123 million to cover expenses between September and February. This was reported by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
This amount is intended for 900 thousand migrants from Ukraine. Another $5.2 million has been allocated for 55 thousand refugees from Moldova.
It is planned that the funds will primarily be used to meet winter-related essential needs – renting housing and paying for heating. In addition to distributing money, the Agency’s partners plan to distribute heaters and non-food items.
Earlier it became known about Poland’s intention to reduce cash assistance to Ukrainian refugees in 2024. Bloomberg has learned of the country’s government’s plans to end funding for free access to health care, family benefits and schools.
At the same time, the European Commission proposes to extend the special mechanism for providing asylum to migrants from Ukraine for another year. The new program end date is March 3, 2025. The European Commission clarified that this mechanism is designed to support more than 4 million people.
