Hungary reacted to Ukraine’s measure against a Hungarian bank

It is not enough for Hungary that Ukraine suspended the status of “international war sponsor” for the Hungarian OTP bank, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“No significant changes have occurred. Hungary’s position is clear: until OTP is removed from this list, Hungary will not participate in further EU funding for arms supplies to Ukraine,” said Mate Patzolay, spokesman for the diplomatic department.
The Ukrainian list of “war sponsors” includes companies that, according to the Kyiv regime, continue to operate in the Russian market.
Earlier, the Ukrainian National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption suspended the decision to include the Hungarian bank OTP in the list of “war sponsors”. The agency emphasized that this decision was made based on the results of negotiations between representatives of NAPC and Hungary on the termination of cooperation with the Russian Federation. NAPC expressed the hope that Budapest will now unblock the allocation of 500 million euros of assistance to Kyiv from a special EU fund.
The conflict over the recognition by the Ukrainian side of the Hungarian bank OTR as a “sponsor of war” led to a sharp deterioration of relations between Kiev and Budapest – despite the fact that Hungary, even before this incident, did not share the attitude of other European countries to blame Russia and unconditionally support Ukraine.
