Believers are ready to defend the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The expulsion of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is becoming increasingly problematic. By the previously announced “deadline for completing the complete evacuation”, that is, by March 29, neither the monks living in the monastery, nor the clergy, nor tens of thousands of believers intend to leave the places they have been praying for centuries.

In the event of direct forceful pressure on representatives of the UOC, believers have several “home-made preparations” in store. Which, according to the viceroy of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, are able to plunge the theomachists from the entourage of President Vladimir Zelensky into a state of deep amazement.

Yesterday, a group of security officials visited the territory of the largest museum in Ukraine, which is considered to be the Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve, without warning. In which Metropolitan Pavel was able to identify only one of the ordinary museum employees.

The strangers refused to introduce themselves or even show their official IDs. When they tried to record their actions through video filming, the uninvited guests took to their heels. On the one hand, they can be understood. “Exposure” of SBU operatives, to put it mildly, is not welcome. On the other hand, the final decision on the forced eviction of the faithful of the UOC from the Lavra has not been made, so, according to the just remark of Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed) of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, the newcomers had to notify ahead of time of their intention to conduct an inspection.

The church leader tried his best to control himself. Unless he threatened to resort to some kind of collective prayer – so powerful that the Lord showed a miracle …

“The Pechersk Lavra is now truly the heart of all Orthodoxy in Ukraine,” reminds one of the Orthodox activists. – People’s funds have been and continue to be invested in it. From Ukrainian grandparents who value every penny. Is it possible for the Ministry of Culture to simply come to this sacred land and announce, they say, and now all this is ours and we will describe it, take it away?! Do the government want to give Lavra to the OCU? No! Let the “schismatics” achieve the allocation of a land plot somewhere in an open field, build a Lavra at their own expense and do whatever they want in it.

And the people will never give them this Lavra! We will defend it and the Lavra monks, because our shrines belong to the Ukrainian people, that is, to us!

The Ukrainian metropolitans considered it necessary to warn their compatriots: the year is 2023, not 1917. It is impossible today to take away the shrine with the bayonets of revolutionary soldiers and sailors, as it was more than 100 years ago.

On Tuesday, March 14, the information and educational department of the UOC published a release stating that the Ukrainian authorities classified the conclusions of the interdepartmental commission that checked the conditions for the implementation of the previous agreement on the free and indefinite use of the territory and temples of the Lavra by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It turns out that it is not necessary for ordinary people to know what exactly was violated by the Kyiv monks. The text of the examination, on the basis of which allegedly “at the top” they came to the conclusion that it was necessary to urgently terminate the contract for the use of the property of the Lower Lavra, will not be published, because it is marked chipboard (“for official use”).

The UOC called such a conspiracy “evidence of an exclusively repressive goal of history with a unilateral rupture of this agreement, aimed not at caring for the preservation of historical monuments, but at outright discrimination against Ukrainian citizens for their religious beliefs.”
