The 20th anniversary of “Star Factory” – a reality show that also opened the era of various show talents in Russia – was celebrated with a sweeping concert, bouts of nostalgia for zero and a local surge of paranormality. It was quite noisy, and sometimes funny to tears.

It must be admitted that Elena (now the singer lives in Portugal) turned out to be a girl with humor and, as a reaction to the scandalous special effect, she posted a photo on her account on a banned network in which her face was blurred with a special filter. “Retouching yourself in photos has never been easier,” the singer said, putting an ironic point in this ridiculous story.

At the Moscow concert, they joked within the limits of decency now allotted, but everyone gathered clearly not for the sake of laughing. The main “factory” hits have already become the subject of nostalgia, and after the discos of the eighties and nineties, it’s high time to open a disco of the 2000s.

“Star Factory” is often scolded, and quite deservedly so. The very idea that in music one can become famous not for the ability to compose and perform one’s own original material, but as a result of a successful fall into the hands of a producer, still looks somehow flawed. Unlike some of the songs that were written as part of the project. The main “factory” hits are taken first of all by their dissimilarity to each other, very relevant cosmopolitanism in those days and, finally, by the melodies written in a situation when the rhythm had not yet conquered the mind.
