The Kirov District Court of Ufa has begun considering a criminal case against 57-year-old Bashkir nationalist Ramile Galim (included in the list of terrorists and extremists; previously bore the surname Saitova). She is accused of public calls for activities directed against the security of the state (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Sanctions under this article provide for up to six years in prison.

As Assistant Prosecutor of the Kirov District of Ufa Ildar Taktamyshev reported in court, the defendant’s intent to commit a crime arose from September 21 to November 11, 2022, when she, experiencing a “hostile-negative” attitude towards the authorities, decided to record a two-minute video message in which she addressed mobilized to the Northern Military District with a request for desertion. Ramilya Galim published the video on her YouTube channel.

Ramilya Galim did not admit guilt. “Where are the signs of a crime? Those who are mobilized are not military personnel,” she said in court.

In November 2021, as reported by Kommersant-Ufa, Ramilya Galim was found guilty of public calls for extremist activity (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The sentence is three years’ imprisonment in a penal colony. In August 2022, she was released from prison.
