The traffic police began preparing proposals for adjusting traffic rules – Kommersant

The Russian State Traffic Inspectorate has begun collecting and preparing proposals for future changes to traffic rules. A representative of the department stated this yesterday at a meeting of the “Road Safety” working group within the framework of the “regulatory guillotine” at the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation.

On November 3, 2023, we recall that during a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and members of the Public Chamber, member of the OP Alexander Kholodov proposed to rework the current rules and no longer make targeted amendments to them, as has been done in recent years. Following the meeting, the head of state instructed the government and the OP to prepare and submit proposals on “improving” traffic rules by April 1, 2024. The White House has delegated this work to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Traffic Inspectorate reported yesterday. They noted that the “comprehensive reworking” of the rules must be approached with caution, and “serious work” remains to be done when writing amendments.

The situation around traffic rules, as Kommersant told, was also discussed at the end of November at the Road Traffic Russia congress. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, commenting on the OP’s calls to rewrite the rules, urged not to make “sudden movements”, limiting themselves to targeted amendments.
