The traditional organized march of the Immortal Regiment is not planned to be held in 2023, spokeswoman for the movement Olga Baibulova said. According to her, the organizers “decided to move away from the format of one street and one square, and go wider.”
“As such, the format of the usual (processions.— “b”) will not be. We decided to expand the traditional format so that we honor the memory of the heroes throughout the day,” Baibulova told Interfax.
Gennady Ivanov, co-chairman of the Immortal Regiment’s central headquarters, said that motorists would be able to take part in the action – they were offered to place festively decorated portraits of veterans on the rear or rear side windows. The organizers also invited everyone to “attach photos of the heroes of their families to their clothes” in order to “not part with them throughout the day.”
In 2020 and 2021, the Immortal Regiment was held online due to the coronavirus. In 2022, the procession was held in the traditional format. In April the Kremlin informed about the start of preparations for the Victory Parade in 2023. Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov did not rule out participation in it of fighters of the military operation in Ukraine.
