The Torpedo women’s team reached the semifinals of the WHL

The Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo hockey players continue to fight for the WHL Cup. The team from Nizhny Novgorod held the regular championship of the 2023-2024 season at an excellent level, taking 2nd place in the standings. Over 42 matches, the Torpedo hockey players were able to score 97 points, which allowed them to settle in 2nd position, losing only to their rivals representing “Agidel” from Ufa. During the current regular season, only Torpedo provided real competition to the reigning champions from Ufa, who took 1st place with 5 points more.
In the first round of the playoffs, the Torpedo women’s team met with outsiders representing “7.62” from the Moscow region. In all three matches, the Nizhny Novgorod team played with an advantage and dominated over an opponent who was clearly inferior in class. The third match finally showed that the Nizhny Novgorod team is much stronger than its rivals from the Moscow region. There were 5 goals in the 7.62 goal, but they could not answer, ending the 2023-2024 season with a major defeat. Thus, “Torpedo” beat “7.62” in three matches and advanced.
In the semi-final match, the Torpedo hockey players will have to compete with rivals representing Krasnoyarsk. The semi-final series between Torpedo and Biryusa starts on March 20. The first two meetings will take place in Nizhny Novgorod.
