The Tenth Ballet Festival in the Kremlin will open with Sleeping Beauty

September 23 at the State Kremlin Palace “Sleeping Beauty” by P. Tchaikovsky starts the tenth anniversary International Ballet Festival.

The festival program includes three more large-scale classical performances that have long been loved by the public, performed by artists of the Kremlin Ballet Theater: The Nutcracker (September 24) and Swan Lake (September 28) by P. Tchaikovsky, as well as La Bayadère by L. Minkus (September 28).

The key event of the festival will be a gala concert of the leading soloists of the academic ballet theaters of Russia, which will be held on September 27. This is the first time such an event has been planned within the framework of the festival, and it promises to become a truly significant event.

The program includes performances by talented dancers from St. Petersburg (Mikhailovsky Theatre), Samara, Ufa, Voronezh, Kazan, Yoshkar-Ola, as well as from the Republic of Belarus and Donetsk (Donbass Opera).

Participation in the gala concert will also take the stars of the “Kremlin Ballet”, the Musical Theater. K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko and the Bolshoi Theater.

“In fact, we have been planning to invite artists from various Russian theaters to our Ballet Festival in the Kremlin for a long time, and I am very glad that this has finally been done,” explained the People’s Artist of Russia, artistic director, chief choreographer of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre. Andrey Petrov. – I travel a lot around the country, stage performances in other cities, attend various festivals and competitions, and I can say with confidence that now the professional level of soloists of all our theaters has greatly increased, they work on a par with Moscow and St. Petersburg troupes. These are very responsible people, they have a perfect command of technique and acting skills. And it’s great that the capital’s audience will be able to see Russian stars in the gala concert – and these are the real stars, I can’t name these performers in any other way. Of course, we did not have the opportunity to invite representatives of all the theaters to the festival at once, we limited ourselves to ten, but I hope that the tradition will be continued in the future.

There is another significant nuance: we asked the participants of the gala concert to present fragments of new productions that are already being staged or are currently being prepared in their theaters. So the concert will turn out to be quite diverse, and, I believe, it will be of interest to both the general public and professionals.”

Let us add that another surprise is planned for September 27: in the second part, a fragment of V. Kachesov’s new ballet “Cleopatra” staged by Andrei Petrov will be shown (its premiere is supposedly scheduled for next year). Looking forward to…
