The temperature on the Soyuz rose to 70 degrees after depressurization on the ISS

Flight Director of the Russian Segment of the ISS, General Designer for Manned Complexes and Systems of Russia Vladimir Solovyov said that after a coolant leak from the thermal control system, the temperature on board the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft reached 70 degrees Celsius. On video with the speech of the designer, published by Roskosmos, drew attention of RBC.

“The rise in temperature, when we calculated it, it turned out to be catastrophic,” Solovyov said. “There, we very quickly approached temperatures of 60-70 degrees.”

He pointed out that, in addition to the crew, there are devices on board that are not adapted to work at high temperatures: “At temperatures somewhere around 40 or 50 degrees, the microcircuits are already starting to fly out.”

The Soyuz MS-22 docked with the orbital station on September 21, 2022. In December, Russian cosmonauts discovered a depressurization of the outer contour of the ship’s thermal control system. Roskosmos reported that the outer skin of the pilot-aggregate compartment was damaged. According to the announced plans, the crew will return to Earth on the Soyuz MS-23 spacecraft. The launch of the ship unmanned regime was to take place on 20 February. Later it was announced transfer start-up before the beginning of March to test the thermal control system.

In early February, it became known about depressurization of another ship – liquid leakage from the cooling circuit was recorded in Progress MS-21, which had just arrived at the ISS.
