The general designer for manned complexes and systems of Russia, Vladimir Solovyov, said that the meteoroid that collided with the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft was approximately 1 to 1.5 millimeters in diameter, that is, the space object was “slightly smaller than a match head.”

An experiment conducted at TsNIIMash made it possible to learn more about the meteoroid, Solovyov said.

On December 15, the space object collided with the ship, breaking through the outer contour of the Soyuz’s thermal control system radiator.
