Mass burials of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are carried out according to methodological recommendations for organizing urgent burial of bodies in wartime. RIA Novosti reported this with reference to its source.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, the document states that the required length of the foundation pit for a mass grave is 32 meters. It is designed for 100 people when laying out the first and second rows of bodies and remains.
It is clarified that the distance between coffins horizontally and when coffins are installed in two tiers vertically must be at least half a meter. The coffins of the upper tier are ordered to be placed above the spaces between the coffins of the lower level.
The agency’s source also said that mass graves in Ukraine are usually dug by bulldozers with an average productivity of 80 cubic meters per hour. These are mainly bulldozers based on the T-130 and T-170 tractors, widely used in the country.
The guidelines also recommend filling the voids between the coffins with pine branches and brushwood. Also, a special ventilation duct is created in the mass grave until the day of the foundation pit. At the same time, to accelerate the mineralization of bodies, it is necessary to install a moisture-absorbing well and grooves.
The manuals also specifically note that reburial from a mass grave is possible only after a year. At the same time, the removal of the remains of one deceased will be carried out only after the reburial of all those buried by decision of local officials and after receiving a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion.
