Boris Johnson says ‘the world needs Trump’

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unexpectedly came out in support of former US President Donald Trump, who is again running for the presidency. Trump may be “what the world needs” right now, Johnson said.

“We all need to grow up and get used to this prospect,” he wrote in his weekly Daily Mail column.

“If he does the right thing and supports the Ukrainians — and I believe he will — a Trump presidency could be a great victory for the world,” Johnson added.

He said the world needs a leader “whose willingness to use force and sheer unpredictability is a major deterrent to the enemies of the West”, who is “an enthusiast of free markets and capitalism” and who is interested in “a proper free trade agreement with Britain”.

Johnson also recalled that Trump “was the first US president to defend Ukraine, giving it Javelin anti-tank weapons in 2018.”

“So no matter what they say about President Trump now, I cannot believe he would want to go down in history as the president who withdrew support for a country he had already helped,” Johnson wrote.

Earlier, the head of the faction of Vladimir Zelensky’s Servant of the People party in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, David Arakhamia, said that the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine could be ended in the spring of 2022, and this would happen if the Kyiv authorities agreed authorities to a neutral status. According to him, the neutral status of Ukraine was the main demand of Moscow, which was ready to end the conflict on this condition. He also admitted that the final refusal of the Kyiv regime to stop the conflict was influenced by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who made a special visit to Kyiv.
