Amnesty International: the deaths of journalists in Gaza were ignored at the Davos forum

At the Davos Forum, no attention was paid to the death of journalists in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli attacks, and therefore the authority of the forum is questionable, said Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of the international human rights organization Amnesty International, in an interview with Time magazine.

The annual World Economic Forum ended on January 19.

Callamard noted that this issue is “very complex and sensitive,” which would hardly prevent it from being considered at the Davos Forum.

“If a platform like this can’t be more courageous in terms of who they invite and what sessions they host, I think they’ve really lost credibility in my eyes,” she said.

The Secretary General of Amnesty International also pointed out the lack of a unified position on the conflict in Ukraine among the forum participants and stated that “the entire international system was torn apart.”

It was previously reported that 83 journalists and media workers were killed in the Gaza Strip, 16 were injured, three were missing, and 25 were detained.
