Stavropol climbers won “gold” at the regional mountaineering championship. According to the press service of the city administration, the high-altitude tournament was traditionally held in Karachay-Cherkessia. There, for athletes in the Uzunkol region, there are all conditions for climbing the peaks of Dalar, Kirpich, Dolomites, Chocolate Peak, Chatbashi, Trident, and others.
“The regional center was represented by 44 athletes,” the press service of the mayor’s office added. “More than once, athletes had to walk the distance on the rocks in strong winds and in conditions of snow that did not melt due to late spring. This greatly complicated the technical work for the participants.”
It was not without heroism: Konstantin Zhukov and Sergey Denisov excelled in the championship team, who overcame the route of the sixth (most difficult) category of difficulty: they climbed Chocolate Peak along the mirrors of the western wall.
As a result, in the team standings, the Stavropol team overtook the teams of Nevinnomyssk and Pyatigorsk, which took third and second places, respectively.
