The Swedish security service reported traces of explosives near Nord Stream

When examining the scene of the incident around the two gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2, extensive damage was documented, remains of explosives were found, about this reported in the press service of the Swedish Security Service (SEPO).

“The investigation shows that we are talking about serious sabotage. An on-site inspection of the crime scene in the Baltic Sea documented the area and extensive damage to gas pipelines from the explosions in detail. Several seizures were made, among other things, foreign objects were found. In the course of the analyzes carried out, the remains of explosives were found on several seized foreign objects.

The Swedish Security Service clarified that the work on the analysis is ongoing. “A preliminary investigation should show whether someone can be charged with suspicion and then prosecuted,” the department stressed.

At the beginning of October SEPO reported on the completion of the investigation of incidents on gas pipelines, as well as on the identification of signs of “gross sabotage”. Then, as part of the study of what happened, the service stated that explosions became the cause of the damage to the Nord Streams in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Sweden.

On the night of September 26, pressure dropped in two Nord Stream gas pipelines. Subsequently, four leaks were discovered: two of them are in the Swedish EEZ, and two more in the Danish EEZ. Later, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, announced the deliberateness of the incidents on the pipelines, and in the Kremlin admittedthat it could be a “terrorist attack at the state level.” On September 30, speaking in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin openly accused in what happened in the West.
