The Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Krasnodar Territory received a refusal from the Supreme Court of Russia to transfer to the cassation court the department’s complaint in a dispute with the family of the repressed Panaetidi, information posted on website court.

The Greek Panaetidi family, whose parents were expelled from the Krasnodar region during deportation in 1942, is seeking compensation for lost housing.

Anna, Olga, Nadezhda and Vasily Panaetidi, born in a special settlement in Kazakhstan, were recognized as rehabilitated, returned to the Krasnodar Territory and in 2020 applied to be placed on a preferential housing queue.

After numerous refusals by officials and court proceedings, in 2022 the family was added to the list of those in need of housing in the Seversky district of the Krasnodar Territory, from where their parents were expelled.

However, the municipality did not have the opportunity to purchase housing, so the family members asked to replace the provision of living space with a cash payment.

The decision to include the family on the list for payment passed three courts, after which the Ministry of Social Development of the Krasnodar Territory tried to appeal it in the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation did not find any grounds for transferring the complaint to the cassation instance.
