The Judicial Collegium of the Supreme Court decided to reconsider the case of a resident of Kazan, who, due to an error in the telephone number, transferred a million rubles to a stranger and was unable to return the money.

The case file states that the woman took out a loan and tried to transfer money to workers through an ATM to buy construction materials.

Sberbank explained to the woman that the money had been credited to the recipient’s account and after that the credit institution could not cancel the operation.

The man to whom the transfer was sent by mistake stated that he had long ago lost the bank card on which the money was received, while the scammers withdrew almost all deposits from all his accounts.

The case was sent for review to the court of first instance.
