The number of working pensioners registered in the Russian Social Fund system has almost halved since 2015, it follows from data Rosstat. As of January 1, 2023, there were 7.9 million working pensioners in the country, and in 2015 their number was 14.9 million.
According to data at the beginning of this year, the number of working pensioners is 18.9% of the total number of pensioners. Of the working population, 6.743 million pensioners receive old-age pensions, 686 thousand pensioners receive disability pensions, and 37 thousand pensioners receive survivors pensions.
250 thousand people receive a social pension, 188 thousand receive payments to victims of radiation and man-made disasters, 8 thousand federal civil servants. The data does not take into account information from the annexed regions.
In the first half of 2023, the number of pensioners in Russia decreased by 404,200 people. As of July, their number was 41.38 million. This is the minimum since 2019, during the period of the pension reform.
