Postpartum recovery for women, including plastic surgery and restoration of muscle tone, should be included in the basic program of compulsory health insurance (CHI). The appeal was sent by the deputy head of the LDPR faction in the State Duma Yaroslav Nilov to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, said TASS with a link to the document.
Yaroslav Nilov notes in his letter that one of the reasons why young women refuse to get pregnant is “uncertainty in the resources of their own body and their ability to recover.” In his opinion, if material difficulties are added to these doubts, “it turns into the main incentive for abandoning motherhood.”
“Many are frightened by the high probability of negative consequences and postpartum complications, which can not only affect health, but also significantly affect appearance,” the letter says.
Mr. Nilov added that now the CHI does not include postpartum restorative complex procedures, including the return of muscle tone and the restoration of tissues and immunity, body shaping, normalization of hormonal levels, plastic surgery and psychological assistance.
“Based on the foregoing, I ask you to consider expanding the list of medical care during pregnancy and the postpartum period available to citizens under the basic program of compulsory medical insurance,” wrote Yaroslav Nilov.
