The gambling business in Russia could be considered as one of the areas of event tourism, so it will be easier to develop it, said Sangadzhi Tarbaev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development.
“If we perceive the gambling business as a direction of event tourism, it will be easier to promote and develop it,” — said Tarbaev on the sidelines of a conference in Sochi dedicated to the development of casinos within the framework of the national tourism industry (quote from RIA Novosti).
The head of the Duma Committee believes that the gambling business in the Russian Federation cannot exist outside of tourism, and casinos, according to him, can be part of the entertainment industry, “but not the most important one.” Gambling business within the domestic tourism industry “pulls other areas – forums, concerts and so on,” Tarbaev told the agency.
There are currently four official gambling zones in Russia: Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi, Yantarnaya in the Kaliningrad Region, Siberian Coin in the Altai Territory, and Primorye in Vladivostok. Azov-city between Rostov and Krasnodar was liquidated at the end of 2018. Instead, it is planned to open a new gambling zone “Gold Coast” in Crimea in 2024.
