The State Duma proposed establishing an alternative Plush Toy Day

The proposal of the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection, Tatyana Butskaya, to introduce a new holiday - Teddy Toy Day, caused discussions. She expressed the opinion that such a holiday would be celebrated by those who are just beginning to fall in love, and would not contradict the family values of Russia.

"We must consider this as seriously as family policy, because any family policy begins with falling in love. We can create a holiday of love, taking into account our traditional values. This holiday should be during school for schoolchildren and students, so that it is easier for them to confess in love, being close. It would be wonderful to establish a Teddy Toy Day, when they can give each other gifts and invite each other on a date,” Butskaya told RIA Novosti.

She noted that Russia already celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity on July 8th. However, Butskaya emphasized the difference between this holiday and Valentine's Day. She emphasized that on this day you need to get together with your family and remember the values of the family.

Earlier, Mikhail Vetrov, chairman of the Association of Manufacturers of Children's Goods, Works and Services, expressed the idea of replacing the Western Valentine's Day with the Holiday of Friendship and Camaraderie. He argued that Valentine's Day does not correspond to domestic culture and gives rise to negative phenomena.

However, the first deputy chairmen of the State Duma Committee on Science Oleg Smolin (KPRF) and Ksenia Goryacheva (NL) expressed their dissatisfaction with this idea and do not support it.
