The State Duma criticized Russian football players for their reluctance to help the army

First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Defense Alexey Zhuravlev criticized the football players for their reluctance to help the Russian army and give part of their “fabulous salary” to the needs of the special operation.
The parliamentarian does not recall such cases. Well-known football veterans, according to him, turned out to be “extremely greedy for state money,” but unable to defend Russia. He recalled that the country “raised them into athletes and fed them for many years of their career.” Maybe this is “in general such a treacherous environment”, since we don’t hear “other opinions from the football guards,” Zhuravlev is perplexed.
He does not know any football players who would “warmly welcome the special operation” and “sign up as volunteers for the front.” These are the kind of actions the deputy expects from athletes, and not “banal following the lead of one’s own wallet.”
