The State Duma approved amendments to deregister a car on the day of sale

Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Tuesday, November 7, approved in the first reading amendments to the legislation that allow car owners to apply to the State Traffic Inspectorate to deregister the car immediately after the purchase and sale transaction.

The legislative initiative belongs to the head of the Duma Committee on Transport and Development of Transport Infrastructure, Evgeniy Moskvichev. He proposed allowing the owner of the car to submit an application to the traffic police to deregister the car immediately after completing a transaction for the sale of the vehicle using the State Services portal or having it notarized.

Current legal requirements allow filing such an application no earlier than ten days from the date of the transaction.

It was previously reported that the same bill provides for reduction of the package of documentsrequired to register a car with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate – it is proposed to remove the compulsory motor third party liability insurance policy from it. At the same time, Moskvichev assured that compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance will remain mandatory for traveling on public roads.

Meanwhile, the state is purchasing domestically produced official cars for the State Duma deputies themselves. The Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday published a list of recommended cars that will be purchased as a priority for civil servants. The cheapest of them was Lada Granta, which costs 700 thousand rubles.
