State Duma deputies approved amendmentswhich allow military service upon conscription in the Federal Security Service (FSB), reported Head of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev.
He emphasized that we are talking about service exclusively in the Border Service of the FSB. “At the same time, conscripts with foreign citizenship and a residence permit, the status of a foreign agent, a criminal record (including expunged and expunged), and who use drugs cannot be border guards,” Mr. Piskarev emphasized.
Amendments allowing military service in the FSB were introduced for the second reading of the bill on volunteer formations within the Russian Guard. The document will allow the department to independently recruit volunteers and create formations from them following the example of the Ministry of Defense.
Last October, conscript soldiers were allowed to serve in the FSB agencies under contract. The contract can be concluded by conscripts who received secondary vocational education before conscription, as well as by men who are not in the reserves and who have received secondary vocational education. Military personnel who have signed a contract with the FSB can take part in a military operation in Ukraine.
